WOMAN STABBED BY BOYFRIEND,  COLLAPSES OUTSIDE FLAT, DIES

MANZINI – Once again, a woman has died at the hands of her boyfriend, who
allegedly stabbed her with a knife.
The 22-year-old woman is believed to have argued with her boyfriend before he
reportedly stabbed her in the left side of the chest, around 8pm on Saturday, at
Mahlabatsini. Neighbours reportedly saw the woman emerging from the house
clutching her chest before she collapsed. The cause of the argument between the
couple is unknown. According to Shepherd Magagula, a community police member of
Mahlabatsini, the argument took place while both individuals were in the house.
During the altercation, Magagula explained, the man locked both himself and his
girlfriend inside.
“Feeling the heat of the situation, the woman hit a window and the noise
attracted two male neighbours who were outside. They approached and demanded
that he opens the door,” Magagula said. He further noted that the man then
allegedly stabbed his girlfriend. He narrated that when he eventually opened the
door, she was seen bleeding profusely.
Initially, Magagula revealed that the neighbours did not realise she had been
stabbed, until she took a few steps and collapsed. Magagula said the man
immediately ran outside, threw the knife behind the houses and fled the scene.
Incidents
Despite searching for him throughout the night, the community police said the
man had not yet been found. Magagula stated that the man is from Mankayane and
revealed that the couple had a troubled history, including previous incidents of
alleged assault. He mentioned that their families had once attempted to
intervene and that the couple had broken up before reconciling. “She had only
returned a week ago before this fight. We have no idea what caused the
altercation,” the community police member added. Senior Superintendent
Phindile Vilakati, the Chief Police Information and Communications Officer,
confirmed that on Saturday, at 8pm, a 22-year-old woman from Mahlabatsini was
stabbed once in the left side of the chest, by a known man with a sharp object.
Vilakati reported that the woman died on the way to Raleigh Fitkin Memorial
(RFM) Hospital, while still at Mahlabatsini.
Incidents of murder are not unusual at Mahlabatsini. This publication reported
mid-July that a love triangle was suspected to be the motive behind the gruesome
death of a 22-year-old woman, who was found murdered and her throat slit beside
a road. This horrific discovery occurred on a Sunday around 5am. Sources
revealed that the deceased allegedly had more than one boyfriend. One of her
boyfriends reportedly learned that she was with her other boyfriend, and he
allegedly started tracking them. On the day in question, the accused boyfriend
is alleged to have caught up with the deceased and her other boyfriend, walking
along one of the roads at Mahlabatsini.
