Speaking through Superintendent Luwela Mlambo during the funeral service of Constable France Sibonangaye Dlamini at Ekupheleni, the NATCOM said he is worried at the rising number of police suicides. France, who was a member of Prime Minister Russell Dlamini’s security detail, shot and killed his wife Nomfundo Sihlongonyane, then ended his own life in the same manner. The wife was also a police officer attached to the royal guard Unit. The incident happened on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. This past Wednesday, Constable Masiza Masilela also shot himself in the head at the Swazi Plaza police post in Mbabane. “The National Commissioner is worried at the manner in which members of the REPS take their own lives. These are bad spirits that need prayers from the nation, especially churches,” Manoma said. France leaves behind three children, Thando (17), Sethu (14) and Andzi (9). The death of the couple happened at Mpolonjeni, Mbabane, in their home. France is reported to have used a service firearm to end the life of his wife Sihlongonyane before turning the gun to himself. Chapel Sikelela Mamba revealed during the funeral service that the couple had domestic challenges, which had been ongoing for a period of time and he was also the one helping them through these problems. The couple’s marital challenges had seen the pair being regulars at the Mbabane Police Station. He alleged that already, there was a peace-binding process that was ongoing at the Mbabane Magistrates Court.
