OVER 2 000 UNITE FOR 2ND JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES CONVENTION

MANZINI — The second session of the Jehovah’s Witnesses ‘Declare the Good
News!’ convention began Friday morning at the Mavuso Exhibition and Trade
Centre in Manzini. Over 2 000 delegates were gathering nationwide.
This session follows a successful first convention last weekend, which attracted
thousands of people seeking encouragement and spiritual support in today’s
often challenging world.
Thursday’s programme was based on Luke 2:10 – “Good news of a great joy
that all the people will have.” The day’s programme opened with a warm
welcome from the Convention Chairman, Zwelihle Mbatha, who addressed the
delegates with a hopeful message amid global challenges such as wars, poverty
and diseases.
“Despite the prevalence of troubling news, we have a source of good news
better than any promises from human governments,” Mbatha stated, referring to
scriptural assurances.
He highlighted one of these promises from the Bible that God’s Kingdom will
ultimately end human suffering by “wiping out every tear from people’s eyes
and removing death, mourning, outcry and pain.”Attendees travelled from
regions as distant as Lubombo and Shiselweni to attend the three-day event,
braving the hot Manzini weather to partake in the spiritual programme. For many,
like Nodumo Mafu, the convention theme is timely. “The theme: ‘Declare the
Good News!” makes me feel as though Jehovah wants to rekindle my zeal for
sharing the good news with others,” she said, reflecting on the relevance of
spreading hope post-COVID-19.
Enthusiasm
Similarly, Philip Mamba from Timbutini shared his enthusiasm for the weekend
programme. Mamba not only prepared for the convention by budgeting for his
family’s attendance, but also by inviting his neighbours to join him. “I
hope to refine my skills to share the good news effectively, and I am encouraged
by the theme that motivates me to declare the good news with others,” Mamba
shared.  Aiming to build trust in the Bible’s message of hope, the convention
features a diverse programme of Bible-based dramas, talks and music designed to
uplift and inspire attendees.
Invite
Jehovah’s Witnesses invite the public to join them on the final days of the
convention, which continues today. As with all Jehovah’s Witnesses
conventions, attendance is free, and no contributions are collected. The event
allows all to hear a message of hope and encouragement deeply rooted in the
Bible’s promises.
