SITEKI – Another woman has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband.
This case comes after hardly two days a similar one was reported at Ngudzeni,
where a woman allegedly killed her husband with the assistance of her secret
lover.
Nomsa Mahlaba, 47, is said to have stabbed her husband to death.
Mahlaba yesterday appeared before the Siteki Magistrate’s Court and remained
quiet throughout the hearing as Magistrate Donald Mavuso explained that she
would not be tried there but at the High Court.
Mahlaba allegedly stabbed her husband, Simanga Gamedze, four times with a sharp
object on June 23, 2009.
It was gathered from those close to the matter that the woman’s husband was
allegedly abusive and is said to have beaten her when he came home from a
drinking spree on the day of the incident.
It is alleged that he pulled the blanket off her when he found her asleep.
When she tried to ask him why he did that, he is alleged to have started beating
her. She then tried to fight back and in the process got hold of the nearest
sharp object and stabbed him.
Gamedze was then rushed to the Good Shepherd Hospital where he eventually died
on Sunday.
When the charges were put to Gamedze in court, it was heard that she allegedly
stabbed her husband in the chest, abdomen and shoulder.
During her court appearance, Mahlaba was told that her case was a capital
offence and that she would be tried at the High Court.
“You will, however, be remanded here until the time of your trial,” she was
told.
The next remand hearing was scheduled for July 13, 2009.
