Times Of Swaziland: Swazis in front row seats at Tsvangirai's wedding Swazis in front row seats at Tsvangirai's wedding ================================================================================ SIBONGILE SUKATI on 19/09/2012 00:00:00 NGWENYA — Prime Minister (PM) Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini said Swazis had front row seats at the traditional wedding of Zimba-bwe’s PM, Morgan Tsvangirai. Dlamini made these remarks during a press conference upon arrival at the Ngwenya Border Gate yesterday, at noon. Tsvangirai’s wedding to Elizabeth Macheka was held under a cloud of controversy after his ex-lover Locardia Karimatsenga Tembo tried to block the wedding which took place on Saturday. Dlamini was representing His Majesty King Mswati III. "When we left last Friday the Zimbabwean High Court had ruled that Tsvangirai’s wedding could continue, but when we arrived we found that there had been another application at the Magistrates Court to try and stop the wedding again," said Dlamini. The PM said thousands of people attended the ceremony to the extent that they had no where to sit. "However, the Swazi delegation had front row seats and it was a wonderful ceremony which was blessed by Men of God although no papers were signed," he said. Dlamini, giving a brief background of the controversial wedding, said Tembo informed the magistrate that Tsvangirai had paid dowry to her family and, therefore, she considered herself to be his wife. "However, Tsvangirai denied that he had paid dowry, but just a customary fine," said Dlamini. The Prime Miniser said Zimbabwe, just like Swaziland had two laws on marriage which are customary and civil rites. "Civil rites marriage is when you vow to have only had one wife while customary marriages allow a person to have more than one," said Dlamini. He said eventually the wedding was held in a customary manner where no documents were signed. Dlamini said they wished the newly weds a long and happy relationship, adding that they also had the opportunity to have a private meeting with Tsvangirai where they discussed bilateral relations and SADC matters. ... lack of walkways sees SBIS director miss PM’s conference NGWENYA — The lack of walkways for persons living with disabilities in government structures prevented SBIS Director Welile Dlamini from attending the press conference convened by the PM at the Ngwenya Border Gate yesterday. While other government officers including Cabinet ministers walked up 20 stairs to the Ngwenya Border Conference room the Swaziland Broadcasting and Information Services (SBIS) Director, who is leaving with a disability was left down stairs as there were no means of getting his wheelchair up the flight of stairs. After the press conference the Prime Minister Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini however, took time to greet the director and they exchanged a few pleasantries while others including Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development Sibusiso Mkhonta sympa-thised with Dlamini. ------------------------- COMMENTS: - Waw!
