Times Of Swaziland: Woman (35) charged with pickpocketing Woman (35) charged with pickpocketing ================================================================================ BY JABULISA DLAMINI on 13/08/2013 04:12:00 MANZINI - A woman has been arrested for allegedly pick-pocketing a bleeding man who had been stabbed in the streets of Manzini. It was said the man was stabbed outside President Centre and the accused allegedly stole his Samsung Galaxy cellphone. Nomcebo Maseko (35) of Ticantfwini was charged with pick-pocketing. However, she denied stealing the cellphone and said she came to the man’s rescue after he had collapsed. The suspect said the man, Senzo Simelane, was bleeding profusely on the day of the incident and needed assistance. “I was passing by and saw him and he told me that he had been stabbed. I advised him to go to hospital and while still talking to him, he collapsed. I then rushed to the nearby taxis but the drivers refused to assist and said he would dirty their cars with his blood,” Maseko told the court. She said after securing other means of transport, Simelane was eventually admitted to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital and that was when she realised that she had taken his cellphone by mistake. Manzini Magistrate Dumisa Mazibuko condemned the act and asked the suspect why she did not call the police when she came across the injured man. “It was their duty to deal with the matter. “If you had called the police, you would not have found yourself in the problem you are currently in. The cellphone would have been handed over to the police and you would not have been charged with the charge you are facing,” Magistrate Mazibuko said. As Maseko had pleaded not guilty to the offence, the matter was postponed to next Tuesday, pending the setting of a trial date. The suspect was granted E500 bail which she paid.
