Residents nominate for  second time after error

LUBHUKU - Residents of Njabulweni were yesterday made to nominate for a second
time following a blunder by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC).
Njabulweni is located near Lubhuku, which falls under the Dvokodvweni
Constituency and is ruled by Chief Ndlondlo Tsabedze of Malindza.
Nominations were held around the country’s chiefdoms (imiphakatsi) on the
weekend of August 3-4.
Despite that most voters were informed over the past weekend about the second
nominations process, there was a poor turn out.
A presiding officer told voters to elect at least five people to add to the 13
who were nominated during the nominations process at Malindza
Umphakatsi.
Four people were eventually nominated.
These are: Thabile Dlamini (32). Phumlile Nkhambule (36), Ntokozo Bulunga (30)
and Nhlanhla Fortune Zubuko (51).
When sought for comment, EBC Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sabelo Dlamini
confirmed that residents of Njabulweni were made to nominate for a second time
yesterday.
Dlamini said: “This was a correction following that Njabulweni and Malindza
were combined during nomination for Bucopho when they were supposed to be
separated in this category.
“While Njabulweni is also a community under Malindza Chiefdom, they have their
own bucopho, hence they now had to be separated.”
Dlamini further clarified that the two areas were only separated in the bucopho
category and not in the indvuna yeNkhundla and Member of Parliament (MP)
categories.
