Times Of Swaziland: ‘MTN re-engineered SPTC Mi-Fi to prove mobility’ ‘MTN re-engineered SPTC Mi-Fi to prove mobility’ ================================================================================ BY KWANELE DHLADHLA on 27/08/2013 02:54:00 MBABANE – For Swazi MTN to have obtained the results that they did about the ‘MI-FI’s usage test’ they had to re-engineer the device to obtain the results which they wanted to establish. These claims are contained in an affidavit filed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ESJ Software Ltd Jeff Penberton through lawyers of the Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC), Howe Masuku Nsibande Attorneys at the High Court yesterday. These are allegations contained in an affidavit whose merits are still to be tested in a court of law. The qualified telecommunications expert, who has approximately 20 years in the field, alleged that: “It is important to note that for the expert to have obtained the results that he did, he had to re-engineer the device to obtain the results which he wanted to establish. Without the re-engineering the device would have not proved that mobility between SPTC’s CDMA base stations existed. “Also there is no exclusive module or physical element on the SPTC network that can be referred to as the ‘mobile component’ that enables mobile telephony services.” These allegations were submitted by UK Telecommunications Expert, Jeff Penberton, in an affidavit filed at the High Court yesterday.
