MBABANE- Active participation of youth in national development continues to be
enhanced as a member of Club 29 National Executive Committee has won the first
round of the elections.
Mthunzi Luhlanga won the Primary Elections at Ndvwabangeni Chiefdom under the
Mhlangatane Constituency by 425 votes.
The 33 year old community development specialist, who has successfully
implemented a number of youth development projects under his constituency, said
he was elated by the decision of the electorate to vote for an aspiring
politician who was still within the youth-age bracket.
He said the people of Ndvwabangeni would not regret their decision to elect a
vibrant member of the youth to the next stage of the elections, since he had a
number of sustainable and workable development projects in-store for the
community.
“First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity and thank the
people of Ndvwabangeni for having confidence in me, and I further promise to
continue dedicating my time in improving the lives of my fellow countrymen.
“This promise will not be determined by whether I will make it into Parliament
or not, I will continue to serve the people in every way that I can. To the
youth and elderly who voted for me to contest in the Primary Elections; I would
like to say, this is a sign that very soon, active participation of the youth in
national development will soon be guaranteed,” Luhlanga said.

Club 29 National Chairman, Phumelele Motsa, also shared similar sentiments. He
said the electorate had made a wise decision by voting for the youth.
“It is high time for the youth to actively participate in national projects
that include elections. As a club that promotes active involvement of the youth
in national projects, we highly appreciate the results of the Primary Elections
at Ndvwabangeni Chiefdom, where Luhlanga emerged as the winner. I would also
like to assure the people of Mhlangatane that they would have not made a bad
decision by voting for the Club 29 national executive committee member,” Motsa
said.
The main responsibility of the Club 29 elected committee members is to
coordinate club activities and link the entire club membership with the Smart
Partnership Hub.
These duties are expected by the executive committee in consultation with
members of the steering committee. His Majesty King Mswati III is patron of both
the local and international Club 29.
Club 29 is a consultative forum focusing on the empowerment of the smart
movement’s membership in all aspects of development through the Smart
Partnership philosophy.
The purpose of the club is to bring members together to share ideas, experiences
and resources in a strategic manner.
The club serves to advocate, support, capacitate and enhance members’ ability
to execute their mandate successfully, through a prosper-thy-neighbour approach
that seeks to produce win-win outcomes for all.
Previously, Club 29 Swaziland only focused on improving and empowering the youth
towards business independency. However, the club now seeks to develop the youth
in all sectors of the society.
