OVER 100 SWEAT IT OUT  AT OYAMA GRADING

MANZINI – Determination and courage was key on Saturday as over 100 Oyama
Kyokushin karate artists graded.
This was at the Bosco Skills Centre in Manzini where the Oyama Kyokushin Kaikan
Karate Association of Swaziland  (OKKAS) held its first national juniors
grading.
There were artists as young as four years old but mainly the event was for those
moving from White to Brown belts.
Having all the zeal to achieve higher rankings, the artists stood the gruelling
physical fitness test, kata and kumite.
Shihans Mfanafuthi Vilakati and Lucky Thomo as well as seniors Senseis Sivikelo
Mgoci, Jabulani Hlatshwako, Linda Dlamini and Bongani Ndzabandzaba took them
through the process that lasts the whole day.
“Oyama is on the rise and these numbers show we’re on the right track,”
said an excited Shihan Vilakati.
He thanked the artists who made it and that he knew there were many more who did
not come for various reasons.
He also noted that a number of parents had also accompanied their children to
the event, saying they were grateful as an association.
