Times Of Swaziland: CITY SPOILERS! CITY SPOILERS! ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 27/03/2017 07:52:00 Swallows...............................(1) 1 Tony 6th Midas City............................(0) 1 Simanga 56th LOBAMBA – A resilient Midas City afforded the 2016/17 season MTN League Champions, Mbabane Swallows a guard of honour yesterday but went on to end the Capital City giants’ 17-game league winning streak. The modest Mbabane side showed a lot of resilience and fighting spirit in snatching a credible 1-all draw against the all-conquering ‘Birds’, who dropped their first two points in the MTN League on a day they were handed the glittering league trophy. The country’s CAF Confederation Cup’s representatives were officially crowned as MTN Premier League champions with four games to play and before kick-off, in true sportsmanship, Midas City players and technical bench gave them a guard of honour. As the first whistle was sounded, the champions were immediately in the thick of things, making their intentions clear - that happens when winning becomes your culture. They were close to taking the lead four minutes into the game but Sikhali’s rasping shot needed a second attempt from City keeper Machawe Mamba to stop it. However, his captain Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze’s header from six yards was too hot to handle for the keeper as he spilled it into the net. This time, two minutes after his effort was denied, ‘Sikhali’ turned provider with a right wing cross into the box. Midfield genius Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu, who was once again paired with the enterprising Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze, had his close range header just inches wide. As Swallows started like a house on fire and their fans loving it, City chased shadows for a good two minutes before they organised themselves. After half an hour was played, City were now settled and started asking questions but to no avail until the break.
