Times Of Swaziland: KICKS TO FLY IN ASHIHARA KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS KICKS TO FLY IN ASHIHARA KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 26/07/2017 04:58:00 MBABANE – It will be all blood and sweat next Saturday when karatekas from the various styles do battle in the 12th Swazi Ashihara Open Championships 2017 billed for Enjabulweni High School in Manzini. Even better, it is anticipated that neighbours South Africa and Zimbabwe will also take part in the championships to add some international flavour. This will be the time when fans are treated to real action so on this fateful day, they can forget about watching Jackie Chan movie on screen but bear witness to the real thing. Long and short term injuries are imminent depending on the impact of the kick one takes but on the positive, it is always about competition and never about grudges. Karate is a sport that promotes discipline so the athletes will always hug and bow to the other after a fight, much to the admiration of the spectators. “This will be a combined with our 21st Anniversary celebration as Ashihara. The action starts at 9am and its open to all the karate styles in the country being Oyama, Japanese Karate (JKA), Sosai, Shin Kyokushin IKO 1 and Taekwondo,” Ashihara Karate Association’s Sensei Abdul Khaaliq Dlamini confirmed. He explained that there was no age limit in the competition and that entry fee will be E50 per division, E100 for two divisions and E150 for three. For Full-Contact or Knock-Down which is where the real stuff is, where the blood is spilt often times and fighters injured as the karatekas fight with all they got without any head or stomach protective equipment will be E100. He also said the divisions to be competed in were as follows; Kata (Open, WKF, WTF, and IKO)/Weapons Kata/Unison Kata/Kumite (WKF)/Clicker /Full-Contact (Knock-Down). “Above it all, entry fee is free for all so be there to see it all,” he added.
