Times Of Swaziland: SA CHIEFS, CT CITY CLASH OVER ‘BUFFS’ CAF FIXTURE SA CHIEFS, CT CITY CLASH OVER ‘BUFFS’ CAF FIXTURE ================================================================================ BY ASHMOND NZINA on 19/01/2018 01:25:00 MBABANE – South Africa’s soccer sides Cape Town City and Kazier Chiefs are at loggerheads over the former’s CAF Confederation Cup fixture against Young Buffaloes. The ‘Citizens’, as Cape Town are widely known, are planning to host their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round return match against Buffaloes on February 20, but find themselves in a dilemma following Chiefs’ decision to arrange a league game between the South African teams on the same day. On their official Twitter account, Kaizer Chiefs had announced that they would no longer face Cape Town City on Wednesday, February 21, but would host the game a day earlier. The decision was challenged by Cape Town through the same platform (Twitter), saying they would be playing a CAF match on the day. “This is impossible. Cape Town City is playing a CAF home leg fixture in Cape Town on February 20,” posted City on their Twitter account. In response to City’s concern, Chiefs stood by their decision. “Any changes to this confirmed date by the Premier Soccer League, we will let you know,” posted Chiefs. Interestingly, City’s planned date falls outside the CAF dates for the preliminary round return matches (February 16-18). In case of clashes, the CAF game supersedes the domestic fixtures. Buffaloes, on the other hand, will play the opening game at home on the weekend of February 9-11. The SwaziBank Cup champions are yet to finalise logistics of the home match. Team CEO Sandile Gwebu’s phone rang unanswered when sought for comment yesterday.
