Times Of Swaziland: GAMA SURVIVES ‘TACKLE’ TO WIN ESWATINI 5KM RUN GAMA SURVIVES ‘TACKLE’ TO WIN ESWATINI 5KM RUN ================================================================================ BY NTOKOZO MAGONGO on 24/09/2018 03:37:00 MANZINI – Winner of the inaugural Eswatini 5km Run Nkululeko Gama survived a street tackle from one of the election attendants at Manzini Central High School on Saturday morning. Gama, who was leading the race, had to ignore the incident that almost saw him falling flat. The presence of police officers along the road, patrolling on foot and motorbikes, scared the group of men away from attacking and insulting the runners. The man was part of a group that had parked cars along the road at the gate of the school. Gama went on to win the race as he clocked 14:30 minutes and took home E1 000. Gama said as a runner, you have to ignore such incidents, especially when nothing happened at the end. There were about 500 runners who took part in the race, which was declared as an annual event. Golden Foot Athletics Club Chairperson Tokky Hou said the next edition was billed for September 21, 2019, same time with the one in Oklahoma in the United States of America. Supporting the run that benefits domestic abuse victims are Margaret Eaton and Douglas Eaton, who were also present. Hou said they were happy with the first edition of the race and they hope to host a bigger and better one next year. After the race, runners had the chance of buying clothes at E50 each, which were on display at the venue.
