MBABANE – Premier League side Moneni Pirates have lost a loyal servant in
shrewd sports administrator Bhekisisa Zwane. News about the death of the former
Pirates Chairman and erstwhile Premier League of Eswatini Governor started
spreading like wildfire early yesterday. He succumbed to an undisclosed
sickness. He died at around 5pm on Friday.
In reaction to the unfortunate incident, Pirates released a statement to mourn
the seasoned administrator who was dubbed a true ‘Buccaneer’. Pirates CEO
Thami Dlamini said the team was shattered by Zwane’s demise, highlighting that
it was double blow as it came at a time when the side was still without a
director. Dlamini worked closely with Zwane over three seasons ago.
“He had an open door policy and assisted the team financially when there was
no director. He further offered legal services to the team.

“At the time of his death, he was in Elders structure. He was always available
for advice. Our deepest condolences go to the family and the football
fraternity,” he said. Zwane was the team Chairman/Director during the period
2000 to 2006. He was Management Committee Chairman for the better part of his
illustrious career with Pirates.
In the 2014/15 season, when Pirates were under the leadership of businessman
December Mavimbela, he was MC chairman. He was a lawyer by profession and
represented the team in countless disciplinary cases in football structures.
Pirates have met the deceased’s family, but they will wait a correspondence on
the funeral details.
