Times Of Swaziland: NO CASH BOOST FOR CAF TEAMS NO CASH BOOST FOR CAF TEAMS ================================================================================ BY SANELE JELE on 19/06/2019 08:54:00 MBABANE – If the country’s CAF Inter-club envoys Green Mamba and Young Buffaloes were hoping for a cash boost from the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) ahead of the Africa Cup campaign, they can forget it. The Eswatini Football Association, in a press statement last night, has clarified its stance on the disbursement of funds to the country’s CAF envoys after a report carried by one of the local dailies to the effect that the two teams would get financial assistance to the value of E500 000. Clarity “The EFA also wishes to extend a clarity on this aspect, in that, the EFA, in its 2019 and 2020 Budget presented, it has allocated an amount of E500 000.00 towards the assistance of the clubs. The said amount caters for the two (2) clubs. The clubs will not be given the amount in cash, but items relating to the competitions will be financed for them until the amount is exhausted,” read the statement in part. Green Mamba will representing the country in the CAF Champions League by virtue of winning the 2018/19 league championship while army side, Young Buffaloes will contest in the CAF Confederations Cup after winning the EswatiniBank Cup, beating Royal Leopard in the final. The EFA, through the same statement released by EFA’s Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe, clarified that not all the eight member associations would receive equal share of the E1.2 million grant. Auspice “The EFA, on a second note, would like to clarify that the E1.2 million grant was to be shared by all the eight member associations under its auspice (the 4 Regional Associations, Premier League of Eswatini, Women Football Association, Coaches Association and Referees Association),” Radebe said. “The distribution criteria, as stated in the speech of the president, are based on the nature of business of each respective members of EFA. In this regard, therefore, members will not receive an equal share as may have been perceived,” he said.
