This is the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) Marathon billed for Saturday, August 17 at the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Centre. The race comprises three categories, which are the 42.2km, as the main event, the 21.1km and 10km, mostly dominated by social runners. Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (EUDF)’s Nkululeko Gama was once again the winner of this weekend’s edition, which is the 118th parkrun. “Today was slippery and we could not run like any other normal day but it was not too bad. The weather itself was conducive for running,” said Gama. He went on to highlight that not the entire route was slippery but a few notable places were and made an example of the portion under the bridge. “It was not too bad at all as the focus today for me was actually to build up on my speed work for the FSRA Marathon in which we will take part,” he said. Gama further disclosed that the he was also already preparing for this year’s fast approaching Imbube Marathon. The runner-up was Zwelithini Mndzebele from Swazi Slojos Athletics Club. He also took part in the Parkrun with a similar motive. “The parkrun is very helpful in training and getting fit for us, in particular, who will be taking park in the upcoming FSRA Marathon,” said Mndzebele. The athlete said he was ready to compete for honours at the marathon and disclosed that he would be competing under the 10km category.
