LOBAMBA – The big match in the MTN Premier League grand opening pitting
Manzini Wanderers against Mbabane Swallows has set the tone for the new season.
The game was full of action as the ‘Birds’ beat their rivals 4-0 to kick
start the campaign on a high. Here are the five things that you could have
missed during the match.
Wanderer’s fans fight
Seeing their team being demolished 0-4 by rivals, Mbabane Swallows, some Manzini
Wanderers fans resorted to fighting. Marshals now and again had to rush to the
grand stand to stop the fights among the supporters in the marooned grandstand.
Marshal’s clash
While, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) declares that they will do away with
marshals as they once turned the technical areas into a boxing ring, they were
back at it against on Sunday. Swallows and Wanderers marshals took centre stage
as they tried to stop each other from crossing technical areas.
Birds fan in Wanderers replica
A well know Mbabane Swallows fan decided to celebrate his team’s 4-0 victory
over the maroon and white outfit in the maroon and white colours of the
‘Weslians, nogal. He was among the throngs of Swallows fans who celebrated
behind the dressing room after the game.
Birds, Wanderers players clash
It was a game full of intensity. It was played in high tempo and this was proven
by the three yellow cards before half time. In the second half Swallows Captain
Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze clashed with Wanderers players including Leon Manyisa,
who was on verge of signing with the red and white outfit. Towards the end of
the game Wanderers coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati and other officials had to
intervene inside the field to calm down players.
Siza’s wild celebrations
It was his first win since he joined the team. Former player Siza ‘King
Pele’ Dlamini jumped into wild celebrations when the team recorded its 4-0 win
over Manzini Wanderers on Sunday during the MTN Premier League grand opening.
