MBABANE – Green Mamba’s coach Caleb Ngwenya has collected E240 000 in
earnings after helping the Correctional Services outfit win both the Ingwenyama
Cup and MTN Premier League in less than two seasons.
Ngwenya banked his first trophy with the team in the past season after they
defied all odds to win the MTN premiership title, before adding a second to his
growing collection last Sunday during the Ingwenyama Cup finals.
The Matsapha based giants outsmarted Mbabane Highlanders with a defining 2-0
scoreline at a packed Somhlolo National Stadium, in front of His Majesty King
Mswati III, to be crowned champions for the first time in this tournament. They
will be presented with a E1.4 million as winners during the prize presentation
ceremony, whose date is yet to be confirmed by the organisers.

According to classified information sourced by this publication, Ngwenya is
entitled to 10 per cent of the team’s first prize money if they win any
tournament. This is contained in his contract with the team and worth noting is
that this has always been standard procedure for coaches hired by the team, as
they are given a share of the prize money as token of appreciation.
This also means Ngwenya received E100 000 as part of his share after Green Mamba
won the MTN Premier League title which carried E1 million first prize. He could
get even richer if the Correctional side can achieve the unthinkable and lift
the EswatiniBank Cup where they are in the quarter-finals. This would bring
Ngwenya’s trophies to three with Green Mamba in less than two seasons.
Green Mamba’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mandla Sibiya politely asked not
to disclose much on the issue.
“The policy at Green Mamba is that any contractual agreement with our coach is
strictly confidential, so I won’t comment on what you are asking me about,”
Sibiya insisted.
