The Denver Sundowns boss was elected into office for a four-year term to lead the organisation together with four executive members in Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows’ Charles Matsebula, Vovovo’s Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe, Tambuti’s Rudolph Matsenjwa and Malanti Chiefs’ Victor Rodrigues. This was on Saturday at the Happy Valley Hotel during the organisation’s elective annual general meeting (AGM) where the new chairman won the election by 15 to 11 votes against outgoing chairman Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula. attention Carmichael has disclosed the most important business of the organisation which needs immediate attention or to be addressed as first priority. The new chairman pointed out the amendment of the organisation’s constitution and review of operating policies among other items on top of the list. “The constitution, code of ethics, operating policies and a strategic plan with a good business model,” he said briefly after being asked to share his first business in office for him and his executive after the election. For the new executive, Bhembe won with 15 votes, Matsenjwa with 22, Rodrigues had 18 and Matsebula got 16. Close contenders in Manzini Sea Birds’ and outgoing executive member Sicelo Mkhonta got 11 while Madlenya’s Juluka Gamedze had 11 votes. “I would like to thank BoGs more than anything. Mine is to thank you all for the second opportunity. I am very grateful and humbled to the clubs for the second chance when I left without informing you last time. This is not my first time so I’ll take the opportunity to also apologise to the teams for last time. It was beyond my control,” said Carmichael after winning the elections on Saturday. thanked He further thanked God for the opportunity and assured that his tenure will be one of transparency and honesty as well as consultation with members. He made it clear that he and his executive committee, were faced with an uphill but would meet and come up with a strategy soon. Carmichael also expressed his pleasure at having worked with Magagula, Mkhonta and slain PLE Chairman Victor Gamedze, saying he gained a lot of experience from them as seasoned administrators.
