Times Of Swaziland: MEN’S T-20 CRICKET LEAGUE MATCHES CANCELLED MEN’S T-20 CRICKET LEAGUE MATCHES CANCELLED ================================================================================ Pholsile Hlophe on 22/12/2020 08:38:00 MBABANE – Blame it on communication breakdown. The Eswatini Cricket Association’s (ECA) Men’s T-20 League 2020/2021 games that were scheduled for Sunday were cancelled and postponed to January 17, 2021. According to last weekend’s fixtures, Cricket Mbabane was expected to play against Sahi XI at 10am, followed by the Indian Warriors going up against Dada’s XI at 1pm. According to ECA Tournament Director Mohsin Bhariyawala, there was a misunderstanding of the kickoff times. “There was a communication breakdown in terms of the starting times for the fixtures. It was vice versa and we could not play one match because both matches ought to be played on the same day to determine the semi-finals qualifying team. “We have shifted the matches to January 17, 2021, which was their initial date before we took a decision to play them last weekend,” said Bhariyawala. Semi-finals The best two teams in Groups A and B will go head-to-head in the semi-finals. The cancelled fixture was supposed to be a race to position four as three teams have already qualified for the semi-finals. These include Season One champions Pak XI, Sahi XI and Malkerns Cricket Club. ECA President Rueben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo commended all the teams for their devotion and competence displayed during the league competition. He wished them happy Festive holidays and reminded them to maintain their adherence to the COVID-19 rules and regulations. Dangers “As we take a festive break, I would like to remind all teams and the nation about the reality and dangers of COVID-19. “Let us all be on our best behaviour, mind our interactions and social conduct so that we return healthy and safe next year. Merry Christmas and safe holidays to everyone,” said Nxumalo.
