Just like many others who were infected by the virus, Premier League of Eswatini’s (PLE) Development Officer Banele Masondo tested positive for COVID-19 about a fortnight ago. He was admitted to a health institution as his condition deteriorated but he has since been discharged after fully recovering. Masondo was discharged on Saturday and has since returned to work. The development officer confirmed the news yesterday. “I tested positive for COVID-19 and had to be admitted to hospital. I was discharged on Saturday after testing negative when the follow-up test was conducted so I am back at work today (yesterday),” he said. Masondo added that COVID-19 was real and emaSwati should take good care of themselves by following government and health institutions’ outlined prevention measures in order to curb the spread of the global pandemic. “People should take this issue seriously, I would like to encourage them to stick to the stipulated prevention measures such as washing of hands with soap and water regularly, wearing of masks and social distancing,” he said. Meanwhile, PLE Executive Member Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo was also discharged from the Lubombo Referral Hospital after, recovering from COVID-19. The co-opted member, who is also Mhlume Peacemakers chairman, had been at home in self-isolation in his road to recovery. The Madlangempisi Member of Parliament (MP) thanked God for his grace, after being discharged from hospital and said he was recovering well. He also urged the nation to take extra-precaution against the COVID-19 pandemic and follow all government and health institution prevention guidelines as it was deadly. “I would like to urge the nation to take care of themselves, stay home and do not travel when it is not necessary,” said Nxumalo, who is also the head of marketing at PLE. On another note, PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati is reportedly at home for an undisclosed number of leave days.
