Times Of Swaziland: RUGBY STAR COMMITS SUICIDE RUGBY STAR COMMITS SUICIDE ================================================================================ Ntokozo Magongo on 17/02/2021 08:23:00 MBABANE – Shocking. Former rugby national team Sizeze and Vondos rugby player Ncamiso ‘Magesi’ Manyatsi is alleged to have ended his life after he was found hanging from house rafters at his home KaNdinda, Ntondozi in the Manzini region. The high-profile player was also assisting the Eswatini Rugby Union (ERU) when it comes to refereeing and was now a coach before his untimely death. ERU’s President Simanga Magagula confirmed the sad news yesterday, passing their sincere condolences to the Manyatsi family, friends and colleagues. “We were informed that he killed himself. He is a former Sizeze player and was playing position nine in the squad. He was also of good use in the union as he gave assistance in refereeing while playing for the Vondos rugby club,” the president lamented. Magagula further stated that they were still not aware of what could have prompted the deceased to take such a decision (ending his life). “The day when we were informed of the news, no one was aware of what might have caused him to end his life like this. We as the rugby union would like to pass our deepest condolences to his family,” he added. Manyatsi’s brother Mthobisi said they were still shocked by the incident. He said his brother did not leave any suicide note to let them know what could have forced him to hang himself. A source close to the matter said the deceased had pending cases with the police and it is suspected that this is one of the reasons that could have convinced him to commit suicide. His brother said Manyatsi was still to be buried, admitting that, as a family, they were struggling to raise funds for the funeral. Assist “We plead with those who can assist, especially financially with the funeral arrangements. He grew up loving rugby and was now working as a coach and referee. We want to give him at least a proper funeral worthy of his status as a sportsperson,” he said. The brother stated that those willing to assist the family can contact 7633 0513. Dlamini’s demise comes while the rugby family was still mourning the sad passing away of police officer and former Mbabane Cheetahs rugby team player Bongani Phumlani Mndzebele who was among the 11 police officers who died in a fatal road accident last year along the Mhlaleni/Ngwane Park road.
