Times Of Swaziland: COSAFA U-20S DOMINATE MOZ SQUAD COSAFA U-20S DOMINATE MOZ SQUAD ================================================================================ BY NTOKOZO MAGONGO on 03/06/2021 08:18:00 MBABANE – Mozambique’s national team to play Sihlangu and Lesotho in international friendlies is dominated by the Under-20 squad that won the COSAFA Under 20 Championships. The friendly matches will be played on Saturday and Monday at Zimpeto Stadium, outside Maputo. Mozambique coach Horácio Gonçalves has called up 25 players for the two friendly matches. Mozambique Under-20 won the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) Under-20 championships last year in December. The squad also secured Mozambique’s first participation in the Total U-20 AFCON held in Mauritania last February. The squad comprise Mozambican Premier League side Black Bull goalkeeper Kimsson Zavala, who is 16 years old and he is the youngest player called up for the senior national team in the history of Mozambican football. According to cafonline.com, the Portuguese coach, Horácio Gonçalves, justified his choices by restructuring the team, starting with the COSAFA tournament and the African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign. “This is a squad from the essential Olympic national team (Under-23) and is a part of the process of integrating younger players into the senior national team. The idea is to do a continuous and gradual work for the renewal of our senior national team,” he said.
