This adage holds true for Manzini Wanderers who are set to officially unveil nine new players ahead of the league opening clash against Manzini Sea Birds. One of the signed players is Zimbabwean import Manzini Sibanda, who has been signed from Bulawayo Chiefs, a team currently playing in the top flight Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League. It is based in Luveve, having been founded in 2012. Others are namely, Siyabonga ‘Siya’ Ginindza, Sibonelo ‘Mabee’ Dlamini, both from Denver Sundowns, Reagan Kangumbu from Tambuti FC, Njabulo ‘Koko’ Gama from Tinyosi FC, Phathizwe ‘Kati’ Dlamini from Luyengo Troublemakers. released The maroon and white outfit recently released eight players after the conclusion of the 2020/2021 MTN Premier League season and also cut down their E200 000 monthly budget to a manageable E80 000. Liweseli Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mlungisi Ndzinisa confirmed that they had beefed-up their playing squad in preparation for the new season. “I can confirm that we have signed 10 to 11 players and that we are still in talks with others,” Ndzinisa said. He said once they had finalised everything on the players they would call a press conference to announce the new players that will join the team. Ndzinisa said they want to improve their league position from the past season by adding the new players as their mandate was to play in Africa next season. “Wanderers are a big team, we want to take it to Africa,” he said this in yesterday’s Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) morning Sports Show. He went on to say that they met with the South African businessman Cedric Mathata and he promised that he would help the team financially going forward. Wanderers faced a lot of financial challenges last season which even led to the players boycotting training sessions towards the end of the league campaign and ended up finishing sixth on the MTN log standings. Some of the players released by the hub side include defenders Jimoh Moses, Siboniso Ndzabandzaba, youngster Njabulo Magongo, goalkeeper Innocent Adja, Sphamandla Dhlamini to mention but a few.
