Eswatini national cricket team registered their second defeat yesterday afternoon, losing by six balls to Uganda with 47 balls remaining. The going is indeed getting tougher for the local team which has three more fixtures before the end of the preliminary stage campaign. Eswatini won the toss and chose to bat first. Their batting innings were off to a good start as Joseph Write made three runs and one wicket by the end of the first over. His successor in Captain Naeem Gull made nine runs off 13 balls, knocked four wickets in 5.1 of 20 allotted overs. Eswatini maintained the momentum, reaching 50 runs in 11.5overs. They finished their 20 overs having reached 72 runs and 10 wicket falls. Shahzad Patel made 25 runs in 23 balls not out. By the end of their 20 allotted overs, the locals had 72 balls, two 6s and five 4s in 45minutes. Target Uganda went all out to beat the target of 73 runs in 20 overs, reaching 50 runs by the end of the eighth over in less the time it took for Eswatini as they had 58 balls and five fours in 38 minutes. Uganda’s Frank Nsubuga was named the man of the match, taking credit for inspiring his team to victory as they recorded their third victory to prove their dominance as Group A’s highest ranked team. Eswatini will have the ultimate test today as they have two fixtures before the final match scheduled for tomorrow. This morning, they will lock horns against Ghana then face Seychelles at 1:50pm. They will then face the hosts, Rwanda, tomorrow starting at 9:30am.
