Times Of Swaziland: MBABANE HIGHLANDERS IN HOT SOUP MBABANE HIGHLANDERS IN HOT SOUP ================================================================================ Machawe Fakudze on 08/11/2022 08:49:00 MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders are set to face the wrath of the MoMo Cup Management Committee. The inaugural 2022 MoMo Cup semfinalists’ supporters threatened to assault the technical bench led by former Green Mamba gaffer Dumsani ‘DU’ Makhanya after they lost to Moneni Pirates 5-4 on penalties. The supporters waited for the coach with his bench outside the newly- refurbished Somhlolo National Stadium, but the mentor together with the players were ushered into the team bus which was waiting at the gate that leads to the playing field to avoid confrontation with the angry supporters. The supporters’ act can attract a fine of E20 000 if found guilty. This is according to Article 14 (2) and (3) of the 2022 MoMo Cup Rules and Regulations. Article 14 (2) states, that every club shall ensure that none of its members, players, officials, supporters or fans engage in any form of unsporting behaviour. Unsporting behaviour shall include; among others, pitch invasions, throwing any foreign objects or substance (s) of any kind onto the pitch either, after or while a match is in progress, assaulting or attempting to assault or threatening the officials, members, or supporters of the opposing club, members of the public or anyone regardless of which team he or she follows. On the other hand, subjection (2) of the Article states that, a club which contravenes the above rule shall be subject to a disciplinary hearing and if found guilty it shall be liable to a fine of not less than E20 000. Efforts to get a comment from the black and white capital city giants hit a snag as Public and Relations Officer (PRO) Mandla Madonsela’s phone was unreachable by the time this report was compiled.
