Young Buffaloes was the winner of the monthly gong for October through Bongwa ‘Owa’ Matsebula while Mbabane Swallows’ Felix Badenhorst took home the award for last month after scoring four times to help his team stay up in the top four and in contention for the E100 000 first round leaders incentive. Pocketed Badenhorst will be taking home E6 000 for the award while Matsebula also pocketed the same amount for the same number of goals for Buffaloes. Badenhorst said with the World Cup ongoing in Qatar, he had been drawing inspiration from France and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) speedy forward Kylian Mbappe he has been watching playing in the World Cup and somehow he got inspiration from the Paris Saint German striker. “I am happy to win this award, after last season I did not play well. This is a good way to start my season and this encourages me to do better as a player. I will continue to score goals to help my team get to lift the title,” said the former TS Galaxy player. Badenhorst said they were positive that this season was going to be better for them. “Mbappe is one of many players who inspire me. He is living up to the expectations. He is one player to watch during this World Cup,” he added. Meanwhile, Bongwa was asked if he had set targets when it comes to scoring goals. “Scoring is part of my game. I do not aim to be top scorer but the target is to help my team win titles. I want to play like Mbappe. What makes him a cut above the rest is that he is not afraid to take defenders on. That is my style of play and I really look up to him as a player,” he said. Meanwhile, Rangers’ Bongani Mvubu walked away with November’s MTN Player of the Month in the National First Division. He was represented by Thembinkosi Hlanze. He is entitled to E2 000 for this award.
