ESWATINI BOXING TARGETS MORE INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

MBABANE – Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA) is humbled by its continuous
penetration into the global boxing community.
This comes after Correctional Boxing Club Coach; Mpendulo Mbingo was on Thursday
appointed as a member of the Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC) Coaches
Committee. EBA President Webster Lukhele said that they were excited by this
year’s milestone, where three of their administrators joined the continental
and international boxing communities.
“We’re grateful for this. The association tries by all means to make the
country to be recognised within the continental and international boxing family.
The goal is to have a representative across all structures including in
refereeing,” Lukhele said. EBA this year saw Pearl Dlamini being appointed as
the International Boxing Association (IBA) Board member, while Lukhele was also
elevated to the position of AFBC Board member. Meanwhile, Eswatini top boxer
Thabiso Dlamini snatched a one-year training scholarship in Russia.
The EBA president said he believed that Mbingo’s appointment would be
beneficial to the country immediately as he starts interacting with other
colleagues in the board. He said he would learn then impart knowledge to the
country which will strengthen local coaching while also advocating for more
opportunities to help Eswatini.
