The former Mbabane Swallows and South Africa’s Mbombela United midfielder has been ruled out for his team’s next league assignment against capital city giants, Mbabane Highlanders next week. The Correctional Services side’s midfielder sustained a knee injury when they lost 1-2 to Denver Sundowns ahead of the festive break at Mavuso Sports Centre. Helped Ndlovu has been a regular and key player for Coach Ernest Mavuso’s side in the engine room as he has helped them to a positive campaign so far. While Green Mamba will miss Ndlovu, Highlanders also saw their senior player Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze, one of their high scorers in the previous two seasons return to training with a recurrent dislocated shoulder. He has seen little or no action this season but is always on the substitutes’ bench. Both teams confirmed the players would not be available when the league returns to action on January 4 for Highlanders who have a pending fixture with Seven Dreams before meeting Green Mamba on Saturday. Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mandla Sibiya concurred Ndlovu’s injury was a huge blow for his team as they were preparing for their first game of 2023 against Highlanders next Saturday. Available “Njabulo won’t be available in our first game of the year when we face Highlanders because of the bad injury he got against Denver Sundowns,”he said. Sibiya said they would move on from the player’s injury as they had a big and capable squad to fill the void by Ndlovu. “Njabulo has been one of the new players in the team and he has settled in quickly but we will play other players who will want to use this as an opportunity to cement a spot into the team,“ Sibiya added. Meanwhile, Sawa will likely miss both games next week through the shoulder injury.
