Times Of Swaziland: ‘BIRDS’ POW REQUEST DENIED ‘BIRDS’ POW REQUEST DENIED ================================================================================ Mengameli Mabuza on 22/02/2023 07:41:00 MBABANE - Forget about it. Capital city giants, Mbabane Swallows have been denied by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) the rights to host Seven Dreams on Saturday at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground. “Reference is made to the above matter and your correspondence dated February 20, 2023 is hereby acknowledged. “The office regrets to inform you that your request to host the game against Seven Dreams FC at the Prince of Wales on the February 25, 2023 is unsuccessful due to security reasons. Fixtures of clubs with a history of full stadium attendance are considered ‘high risk’ status and a Mbabane Swallows FC game at the Prince of Wales is high risk. Kindly confirm another stadium that will not be of high risk to everyone in the stadium,” reads part of the letter from PLE. Mbabane Swallows General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane said this was unfair to the club that was competing for the league title. Competing “We are competing for the league title and we have a right to host where we want. “Why are people fighting the club when we should be treated equally? Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Highlanders have played at the Prince of Wales this season, so why are we being denied the right to host at our preferred stadium?” he asked rhetorically. Swallows had initially written a letter to the PLE on Monday and asked to book the Prince of Wales for Saturday’s game specifying that they would deploy 40 security officers to make sure that everything was in order. A fixture released by the PLE late yesterday showed that Swallows would co-host at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium with Sea Birds. The latter are visited by Denver Sundowns at 1:30pm, with Swallows’ fixture two hours later.
