Manzini Wanderers players, who have since decided to honour their first league game of the 2023/24 MTN Premier League season after learning that their salaries for August were being processed. At least this was the information received from the club at the time this report was compiled after 4pm yesterday. The players had threatened not to honour the match without receiving their salaries. Shunned They also shunned training since their PLE Trade Fair Cup 2023 exit about a fortnight ago due to the unpaid wages. Our sister publication, The Times of Eswatini reported on Wednesday that the players opted to stay away to force the salaries payment. They returned to training on Wednesday after being promised they were going to get paid yesterday morning. Wanderers play their hoodoo rivals in Nsingizini Hotspurs this afternoon. “We are going to play the game tomorrow (today) after we held fruitful discussions with our management. “We will play the game and do our best to get positive results despite not having trained enough in the past two weeks,” said one of the players who spoke on condition of anonymity. The maroon and white side Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Diana Girlie Johnson, shared that the team was currently processing the payment of the players’ salaries. “We are now processing the players’ salaries and they will get them by close of business today or tomorrow (today) morning. Patient “We thank the players for being patient with the team,” she said. The CEO went on to invite the Wanderers supporters to the match against Nsingizini. “We plead with the supporters to come in numbers as we need them to rally behind the players and technical bench in this difficult time,” she added.
