A packed Somhlolo National Stadium was home to the the thrilling encounter between champions Green Mamba and capital city giants Mbabane Swallows yesterday. Ndzinisa’s penalty shot in the 15th minute proved decisive, as he did not only win his side the championship but topped the charts with seven goals to shake off his closest challengers in Mpucuko Dlamini and Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze of Ezulwini United and Young Buffaloes, respectively, who finished on six. Award The award also went to forward Charles Molopo who was with Malanti Chiefs in the last edition in 2020. He scored six goals. “This trophy is special to me as I was winning it for the fourth time,” Ndzinisa said. The captain further attributed their win to all Mamba players. “They should continue working hard to win more titles. Credit goes to supporters who cheered despite unfavourable weather conditions,” he said. The seasoned forward, on the other hand, maintained that he was unaware of the reported Orlando Pirates interest. “If their scouts were here they saw my performance and a decision lies with them. However, I only know of reports through the media,” he said. Mamba retained the title, courtesy of the lone unanswered goal by the Sihlangu marksman (Ndzinisa). This in turn secured the forceful side a mouth-watering E1.4 million prize. Fans of the powerhouses Green Mamba and Swallows cheered from as early as 9am. Meanwhile, cultural dance groups kept the audience entertained during the festivities.
