The journey to the TotalEnergies Confederation of African Football (CAF) AFCON 2025 in Morocco will soon resume. CAF will conduct the draw for the qualifiers (group stage) on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The draw will take place at the SuperSport studios. Sihlangu had a good start in this tournament, securing a 3-0 victory and 2-all draw against minnows Somalia to progress with a 5-2 aggregate win. CAF confirmed these reports through their official website yesterday. “The qualifiers are scheduled to kick-off in September 2024, to determine the first 24 nations that will compete for Africa’s biggest event next year,” the statement read. Champions It was earlier said that headlining the confirmed nations for the draw are reigning African champions Cote d’Ivoire. They will be joined by Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini and Ethiopia. Others include Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
