This was revealed by Dvokodvweni Member of Parliament (MP) and Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Portfolio Committee Chairman Sifiso Shabalala. He disclosed the good news during the officiating of the Tinkhundla Talent search competition Football draw held yesterday at the SibaneSami Hotel, Ezulwini. The knock-out is scheduled to take place next weekend July 27, 2024 and will run until the finals which are set to commence August 3, 2024. “The tournament is open to all 59 tinkhundla centres across all the administrative regions in the country and each inkhundla is entitled to have a maximum of 25 persons, 20 being the players and five being the officials,” Shabalala said. He highlighted that with this tournament they aimed to promote community unity, harmony as well as consolidate patriotism and national pride. “We have given this platform for the youth talent identification and also to maximise participation in sport. We effectively utilise sport as a tool to improving national health and utilise sport as a tool for social change. With the E1.4 million that was distributed to sports, from the sponsorship of E2 million that was sponsored by government, we are still going to breakdown the money towards the football clubs that will be outstanding during the competition,” he added. Shabalala also highlighted that since it was a knock-out tournament, the club that would win in match number one will continue to face the club that won in match number two. That will be the sequence of play throughout all the other teams in the different regions for the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Shabalala clarified that with the standby teams they would play up against the team that would win in the last match of each fixture in the regions.
