The side currently known as Seven Dreams, but awaiting formal approval from the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) for a name change to Sidwashini United, have reportedly completed the application process for the rebranding. The official announcement of the new name is expected to be made during the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) elective ordinary general assembly (OGA) scheduled to take place at Sigwaca House, tomorrow. According to an impeccable source, which is closely associated with the Melizwe Mamba-owned team, the team will be known as Sidwashini United, with the official announcement expected to be made at the PLE elective OGA tomorrow. Change The source confirmed that the name change was finalised, but the official confirmation was yet to be made public. When approached for comment, Mamba, the Director of Sidwashini United, declined to discuss the matter in greater detail, instead indicating that the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nontobeko Mbuyane, was the designated spokesperson for media enquiries. “Please talk to Nontobeko Mbuyane, who is the one who deals with the media,” he said briefly. In another noteworthy development, the Mbabane-based team, became the first team in the league to launch new replica jerseys for their fans on Wednesday night. This was done in a bid to create an enhanced match-day experience for supporters. The club’s CEO, Mbuyane, confirmed that the club has indeed applied for a name change, subject to approval by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE). Application “It is true that we have submitted an application for a name change. We are currently awaiting approval from the PLE, and we hope to receive a positive outcome,” she said. Mbuyane further emphasised that the team was in a strong position, as the team prepared for the upcoming season. “The team is in excellent shape and we are excited about the prospects of the upcoming season. We have been working hard to strengthen our squad; refine our strategies and build momentum towards a successful campaign,” Mbuyane shared. Sidwashini United traded as Seven Dreams in the past campaign. They made history during the previous season, becoming champions of their league and winning a significant prize of E180 000.
