It will be more than just positions as the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) goes to the polls today at Sigwaca House. According to the PLE Policies Legal Book, the Executive Committee (ExCo) is remunerated as stipulated by the remuneration policy. The policy provides guidelines for the standard payment of the ExCo as well as the sub-committees for their duties and services. It reveals that each ExCo member shall be entitled to a monthly retainer fee of E2 500. This applies to the four additional members, as two members will be elected today and the other will be co-opted by the executive to add skills deemed lacking in the body. The chairman and vice-chairman positions carry a different pay scale. “The chairman shall be paid E4 000 retainer allowance per month plus an additional petrol allowance of E2 000 and communication allowance of E1 600 per month,” reads an extract from the Legal Book. Allowance The candidate who shall be the maiden vice-chairman shall be paid E3 000 and receive a fuel allowance of E1 500. Their communication allowance will stand at E1 000, while their airtime allowance will be E500. “For each statutory meeting or special meeting, the Executive Committee members shall be paid a sitting allowance of E800, up to a maximum of three special meetings per month,” further states the policy. Rewards Other financial rewards for them will include a commission fee which stands at 10 per cent of the total sponsorship. The policy also stipulates that any person who facilitates the securing of a new sponsor may claim a five to 10 per cent referral commission. Worth noting is that the ordinary general assembly (OGA) may adopt some amendments to this policy financial policy. This will be so as the assembly suggested that the commission fee needs to be slashed during their April statutory special meeting.
