Times Of Swaziland: LIONS ROAR TO SWAZI TRAC SUPER LEAGUE LIONS ROAR TO SWAZI TRAC SUPER LEAGUE ================================================================================ Sports Reporter on 14/08/2024 15:27:00 SITEKI - RES Siyakha 1800 North West League champions Brave Lions have sneaked into the Swazi Trac Lubombo Super League. Lions survived a scare to beat Stonebreakers 7-6 on penalties to gain promotion to the country’s football third-tier. The decisive match was played at KaLanga Technical Centre outside Siteki, three days ago. In what can be termed a dramatic come-back, the Vuvulane-based outfit turned the game on its head to come back from a 0-2 deficit. This was after Stonebreakers, who are from the Lubombo Western Zone, had taken the lead early in the first half. With 25 minutes left before full-time, Brave Lions scored their first goal via the boot of Siyabonga Shongwe. That goal proved to have brought a new dimension of the match, with Brave Lions now pushing for an all-important equaliser, while Stonebreakers were hoping to keep the lead until the final whistle. Brave Lions’ never-say-die spirit finally paid off in the 87th minute, as Siko Nkambule scored the equaliser to make it 2-2 and forced the match to a penalty shootout. It is now history that Lions roared louder to ‘break the stones’ with a 7-6 win on penalties, much to the jubilation of their supporters.
