MBABANE- South Africa (SA)-based Alakhe Mdluli is set to join the Eswatini
Under-20 squad.
The Eswatini national junior football outfit will be in Mozambique for the
TotalEnergies Under-20s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The games
will be played under the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations
(COSAFA) banner in Maputo, from September 26, 2024, to October 5, 2024.The
latest developments were disclosed by Eswatini Under-20s Head Coach Mduduzi
‘Sikhalo’ Nxumalo.

“It is still work in progress regarding our preparations. We have about 24
players in our squad and we need to drop four players from the 20. When we
select the final squad, we will drop one goalkeeper and three players,”
Nxumalo said. He also mentioned that they were still trying to negotiate the
services of international player Mdluli, who is currently playing for Amazulu
Reserve Team in South Africa. The team is led by Coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi. “We
have sent a request to the SA team, as we want Alakhe to be part of the national
team that is going to compete, later this month.

player, as we are going to need him for all the 10 days,” he added. Meanwhile,
Mdluli is not only serving at Amazulu, but is also the captain of Glenwood High
school in SA. He recently guided his team to a 1-0 victory over Westville Boys
High School. His remarkable display of football earned him a well-deserved Man
of the Match award. Mdluli first represented Eswatini in the Under-20s level,
when he was nine years old. The midfield ace is now showcasing his skills at
Amazulu.
