Times Of Swaziland: SQUADS FOR LESOTHO GAMES SQUADS FOR LESOTHO GAMES ================================================================================ Melusi Mkhabela on 25/09/2024 15:35:00 MBABANE – Yesterday, the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) Chief Executive Officer, Maxwell Jele, released the squads of teams to represent the country in Lesotho. Jele mentioned that Lesotho will be hosting their National Games from October 2-5 in Maseru, precisely. Eswatini will be represented in boxing, taekwondo, athletics and teqball. “The Lesotho National Olympic Committee and the Lesotho Sports Council will host the Lesotho National Games, next month,” said Jele. He went on to highlight that the country has a relationship with Lesotho through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). “We have been working hand in hand with the member associations locally in identifying and building a small team and we come to a conclusion to have four sporting codes,” revealed Jele. Meanwhile, the fourth sporting code, which was revealed to be teqball will be used as demonstration sport, as Lesotho is still behind. The squad is made up of 14 athletes who will be accompanied by four coaches and one Chef de Mission (CDM). Jele mentioned that the team’s CDM is one of EOCGA’s board members, Nhlanhla Maphanga, while the teqball squad will consist of one lady in Nokwazi Dlamini. Meanwhile, as earlier reported, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), headquartered in London, United Kingdom, will hold its Board meeting in Eswatini for the very first time. This makes Eswatini the second country after England to host such a prestigious gathering. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, on Friday. It is worth mentioning that this announcement comes after the Elective General Assembly in Singapore, last year. This is where a new Board of 14 members was elected, led by President Chris Jenkins.
