MBABANE – New role!
This is the story of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Development Officer
Banele Masondo, who has since been given a new role in the organisation.
According to a source in the PLE, Masondo has taken the position of Football
Manager, which was held by now Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat
‘Kungumusa’ Vilakati. Masondo was the organisation’s Development Officer,
responsible for the PLE Under-19 League, which is yet to start. “Masondo is
now the PLE Football Manager and is already executing his duties,” the source
said.
Vilakati, on the other hand, once highlighted that all matters regarding both
the MTN Premier League and the National First Division (NFD), were now under the
jurisdiction of Masondo.

“He (Masondo) is now the Football Manager,” Vilakati was recently
quoted.Meanwhile, the vastly experienced football administrator, who has been
responsible for sport development since 2014, confirmed his new role in the PLE.
“Yes, it is true that I have taken the position of the PLE Football Manager,
albeit on an acting basis though,” Masondo said. He said he took the new
responsibility when then Football Manager Vilakati assumed the position of the
acting CEO.
The seasoned football administrator was elevated to this post after the
resignation of CEO Kenneth Makhanya, who returned to Betway Premiership side
Mamelodi Sundowns as a manager.
Since joining the PLE, Masondo has been the organisation’s face of
development, and is in charge of the development leagues.
