MBABANE – The Shiselweni side, Nsingizini Hotspurs, are proving to be a tough
nut to crack at home in the MTN Premier League.
The Alexio Sigion’s troops are currently fourth after just four games of the
new season. Their home ground has, however, become a fortress with the team
going the entire previous season without tasting defeat at home. They host their
games at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano. Out of 13 home matches,
they recorded four wins and nine draws. They managed to outplay security forces
teams Green Mamba, Royal Leopard and Young Buffaloes, as well as relegated
Denver Sundowns. This season, Nsingizini have picked up where they left off,
winning both of their home games so far and extending their unbeaten home run to
15 games. Their latest scalps include Buffaloes and Moneni Pirates.
Flawless home record for Nsingizini Hotspurs
Breathing down their necks are Mbabane Swallows, who have gone 14 games unbeaten
at home. They have a chance to level with ‘Insingizi Yezulu’s record on
Saturday if they avoid a defeat against Green Mamba. Nsingizini will be away for
their week five fixture. Swallows are also on a 29-game unbeaten streak in the
league. According to Transfermarkt, José Mourinho, across nine years, one
month, and ten days, and a remarkable 150 matches, remained undefeated at home
in league football with FC Porto.
Nsingizini Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mnotfo Dlamini was full of praise for
the team’s record. “It’s all about instilling a winning mentality. For us,
performing well in front of our supporters is a must. We’ll continue to be
ruthless because if you drop points at home, you lose your competitive edge,”
he said. The 2023/24 MTN Premier League Best PRO further invited fans to
Mayaluka Stadium, this weekend. He promised that the team would be gunning for
maximum points against Illovo.
