Times Of Swaziland: SWALLOWS GAVE US HOMEWORK – ERNEST SWALLOWS GAVE US HOMEWORK – ERNEST ================================================================================ Lindokuhle Madlopha on 21/10/2024 14:31:00 MBABANE- “Swallows were ahead of us and we were a second late all the time; they gave us so much work to do.” These were the words of 2023/24 MTN Premier League runners-up Green Mamba Head Coach Ernest Mavuso in a post-match interview after their clash against capital city giants Mbabane Swallows. The match was played at Mavuso Sports Centre, this past weekend, and Swallows won 1-0. “It was a hard game. We started well in the first 20 minutes of the match. Our biggest downfall was failure to convert all the chances into goals and we eventually lost confidence. Swallows picked up and were ahead of us. We were a bit a second late all the time,” Mavuso said. He went on to applaud his players for the effort they put throughout the game. Meanwhile, Mbabane Swallows Head Coach Caleb Ngwenya revealed that the game was a very tactical one created “We played well and created a couple of chances. It was a highly-tactical game; we congratulate our opponents for giving us such a good game. We kept on our plan; we did not want to give our opponents space. They did take advantage of some of our mistakes, but we never lost focus,” Ngwenya said. “We were a bit slow in the first half but we improved in the second. We introduced our two wingers, Siyabonga and ‘Nunu’, because we knew they have speed. I really appreciate everything the boys have done in spite of everything that transpired over the week. They have the potential,” he narrated. He went on to disclose that winning five games will never define the end results of the league, as it was still too early. “Yes we have maintained an unbeaten run in all the games we have played so far but that will never define the league. However, one must mention that these are the games that give us more insight on where we are. They also help us to define our way forward.”
