Reports indicate that the player, who plays for one of the prominent teams in the country, was arrested yesterday morning for the theft. The player is scheduled to appear today at the Mbabane Magistrates Court, to answer on the charges preferred against him. He cannot be named pending his appearance in court. The value of the stolen boots could not be ascertained at the time of compiling this report. Details on the incident were scanty and the name of the complainant remained unknown, by late yesterday. Those close to the player confirmed learning about his arrest, after one of them was informed by the soccer star about the latest developments. Notably, the player was not in action in the past weekend. Meanwhile, Chief Police Information Communications Officer Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the arrest of a man for the said offence. However, as per standard procedure, the name of the suspect could not be revealed. “Yes, we have a soccer player who has been arrested and will appear in court tomorrow (today),” Vilakati said briefly.
