The accolade was presented yesterday following the Mbabane derby at Mavuso Sports Centre. The former Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows player had a standout month, highlighted by a stunning goal during their 1-0 victory against rivals Green Mamba. For his efforts, Magagula received a trophy alongside a replica cheque worth E6 000. This achievement also positions him as a contender for the Player of the Season award, which carries a prize of E15 000. The first recipient of the prestigious player award was Junior Magagula, captain of Royal Leopard. Reflecting on his success, ‘Karas’ attributed his achievement to the collective effort of the team, expressing gratitude to his teammates, the technical bench, and fans for their unwavering support. He emphasised that his win signifies a victory for the entire team and serves as a motivation to maintain consistent effort. Additionally, he expressed double joy at the ‘Birds’ triumph in the biggest derby. Meanwhile, Njongo Mazibuko, the sharpshooter of Red Rhinos (formerly Tambankulu Callies), was recognised as the National First Division (NFD) best player for October. The young striker noted that the award reflects the hard work he and his team invested last month, as they emerged as one of the contenders for the top spot. It is worth mentioning that both players share a history as former stars of Black Swallows and city giants. Swallows had previously loaned Mazibuko to the Lubombo-based side, further intertwining their football journeys.
