According to PLE, the individuals entered PLE offices unannounced to deliver a petition. This happened last Wednesday and they also proceeded to Mbabane Police Station to report a Highlanders official on certain allegations. “Such behaviour risks bringing disrepute to the PLE and may lead to disciplinary action against the member club. The organisation stresses that internal disputes must be resolved through the established channels outlined in the PLE Statutes, underscoring the importance of adhering to league protocols to ensure meaningful and lawful resolution of issues,” reads an extract from the PLE statement released two days ago. Article 18 of the PLE statutes addresses the independence of PLE’s member clubs and their bodies. “Any member club’s bodies that have not been elected or appointed in compliance with the provisions of paragraph 2, even on an interim basis, shall not be recognised by the PLE and/or EFA. Decisions passed by bodies that have not been elected or appointed in compliance with paragraph 2 shall not be recognised by the PLE and/or EFA,” reads articles three and four of the chapter. Statutes Meanwhile, paragraph two states that club bodies shall either be elected or appointed in accordance with club’s statutes, providing a democratic procedure that guarantees the complete independence of the election or appointment. It further states that clubs shall manage their affairs independently and without undue influence from third parties. In the statement, the PLE emphasised that only official representatives of their 28 members have the authority to address issues directly with the PLE. It said the recent action of the fans petitioning is unacceptable and should be condemned.
