STANLIB INJECTS E35K TOWARDS OYAMA CHAMPS

MBABANE – In a revival of their relationship, STANLIB Eswatini has injected
E35 000 towards the Oyama Champ of Champs, hosted by Oyama Kyokushin Karate of
Eswatini (OKKES).
This will be the 14th edition of the Champ of Champs and is scheduled for the
end of the month. Its sponsorship launch took place yesterday, at the STANLIB
Headquarters in Mbabane.
This year’s edition has seen an increase in sponsorship, up from E30 000 in
the previous edition. Speaking during the launch, STANLIB Business Development
Manager Mkhosi Mbhamali expressed satisfaction with the relationship that began
in 2006. Mbhamali said they look forward to many more years of collaboration, as
the OKKES contributes to the nation’s health and discipline.
Meanwhile, Eswatini Karate Federation (EKF) Vice President Shihan Lucky Thomo,
who wore two hats, congratulated both parties on the renewed partnership.
Speaking on behalf of the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC), Thomo
appreciated STANLIB’s investment in sports, noting that sports provide the
right platform for business growth. He also mentioned that sponsorships are the
lifeblood of sports, without which sports would not survive. Thomo further
praised OKKS for the long-standing sponsorship partnership, encouraging them to
maintain it, as the renewal signifies their happiness with the relationship.
OKKES President Shihan Mfanafuthi Vilakati expressed excitement and gratitude
for rekindling the relationship. Vilakati appreciated that STANLIB chose to
fulfil its social responsibility by sponsoring them, which has helped grow the
sport.

“This is an event that has grown and reached beyond our borders, with
participants confirmed from South Africa’s Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal
provinces, as well as Zimbabwe. We are happy and excited about this partnership,
as we also have a duty as an association to help the country combat social ills
such as gender-based violence,” Vilakati said.
He further invited all age groups and styles to register in large numbers for
the championship that will be staged at Mavuso Sports Centre.
