MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) chief executive officer has
empowered the PLE Executive Committee (ExCo) members on the use of appropriate
football conflict resolution structures.
The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) held a corporate governance workshop in
collaboration with the local football governing body over the past weekend.
EFA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngometulu, was featured in a
session on corporate governance and compliance in football. According to the
PLE, Mngometulu provided key insights into the operational and governance
aspects of football. “The CEO emphasised the importance of unity among the
ExCo members and the broader PLE staff. He stressed that a cohesive and
collaborative team is essential for the league to achieve its objectives and
maintain credibility within the football ecosystem,” the organisation stated
in its report on the workshop.
Appropriate
In addressing grievance resolution, Mngometulu explained the appropriate FIFA
structures that teams should follow when disputes arise. He cautioned against
resorting to government courts for football-related matters, reinforcing the
importance of adhering to established football governance protocols. It was
further noted that a major portion of the CEO’s presentation was dedicated to
explaining the statutes that govern football, both locally and internationally,
and their implications for the PLE. Mngometulu stressed the importance of
corporate governance principles, stressing that compliance with these principles
is vital for maintaining transparency, accountability and operational efficiency
within the league. Mngomezulu’s warning comes at a time when there is a
marathon relegation battle involving Manzini Wanderers, which is pending
finalisation at the Supreme Court.
