7 ARRESTED FOR MURDER IN REVENGE ATTACK

MBABANE – Seven residents of Mgomfelweni, under Chief Mphaphela, were arrested
and charged with murder following a deadly attack on a 40-year-old man in Dilini
on Sunday.
The accused, Mfaniphela Gwebu (49), Bongumusa Sotja Mavuso (20), Bonginkhosi
Bongumusa Maseko (30), Khulekani Lucky Mavuso (31), Duncan Mavuso (46),
Mangaliso Thibingwe Mavuso (46), and Sekwanele Alfred Mavuso (16), appeared
before Nhlangano Senior Magistrate Joseph Dlamini.
Assaulting
The group is accused of assaulting the victim, Siboniso Nkosinathi Msibi, with a
knobkerrie, sticks and kicks, resulting in his death. The motive for the attack
is believed to be revenge. It is alleged that the victim had previously
attempted to stab the accused’s grandfather with a knife. While the
grandfather survived the attack, the family members took matters into their own
hands, assaulting the victim instead of handing him over to the police. The
seven accused have been remanded in custody until December 23, 2024, pending
their committal to the High Court.
