This is the remarkable achievement of Eswatini swimmer Siwakhile Dlamini, who recorded a time of 01:04:39 minutes. This impressive feat in the 18-24 age group for females surpasses the previous record held by Gilbertson since 1998, also at 01:04:39 minutes. This milestone occurred during the ongoing World Aquatics Swimming Championships held in Budapest, Hungary. Siwakhile finished fourth overall in the Women’s 100 metres (m) freestyle heats. The event was won by Batsanal Moral, who clocked in at 1:00:08.Nozipho Mahlalela, Secretary of the Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA), commended Siwakhile’s performance, stating, “Swakhi performed exceptionally well. Confident “This achievement comes just three weeks after she commenced her year-long training at Bond University in Australia. I am confident that we will witness even more impressive results from this athlete in the years to come.” She further expressed the association’s ambition, saying, “Our goal is to cultivate Olympic qualifying athletes. Her performance, along with the recent outstanding results of our athletes competing in Namibia, gives us renewed hope.”
